Hello Ana... Your Howard Family from Barbados is probably related to mine.. Although there were Howards there in Barbados in 1650 or before.(See Will of Ralph Worrell ... in Joanne McCree Sanders book ofWills...) Joane McCree Sanders published (3) books on Barbados.. 1 Abstracts of:Baptisms 2 Abstracts of:Marriages 3 Abstracts of:Wills... I am now looking for the REAL WILLS... the real GENUINE WILLS...NOT ABSTRACTS as in Joanne's Books!!... I have not found the direct Wills yet!..Where are they?..Who knows?... Do you know? In the Archives?.. I'm talking about the Real Genuine Wills! I always think that they could be in Black Rock Archives... or someplace like that in Barbados....!
The wills were re-copied .. First by one group.. then another group... and finally a 3rd group. That's how I understand it!... So.. there are (2 copies or (3) copies of the original wills!... The original wills were in decrepit shape... so had to be recopied! I'd like to examine the REAL WILLS for accuracy!.. Were they all re-copied accurately?.. Again Dunno!
My particular Barbados Howard Family were not in the Census of 1679 ( I think that is the correct year the census was taken then... But again not sure! My Howards went home to England.. ot departed for greener pastures.. Maryland or Virginia... c1670s!
However, I do believe that there were other relations of this same Howard Family on other islands that continued the Howard ownwership of the land in Barbados...Continuing to grow sugar cane past the 1660s to 1760s. Mine left the islands of the West Indies c1670s or before.... Back to England ... and others to Maryland and Virginia... So... I think!.. (Some verification)
There were Howards on Antigua, St. Nevis, Jamaica... and other West Indian Islands who I believe never returned to England..They stayed in the West Indies! You are probably related to these particular Howards... But again... Dunno!...
Hope I have given you something to think about!Keep in touch! Luck... Sincerely, D P Sully
