The Golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Knott was celebrated at their home last Wednesday, only one of the children, Mrs. Wm. Jensen of Omaha, being able to help them enjoy this event.
Mr. and Mrs. Knott were born in England and came to this country in 1887 coming directly to Parkersburg where they have always resided. They are the parents of three children, Mrs. Jensen and Philip of Omaha, and Albert of Sioux Falls, S.D.
Both have always been hard working industrious people, excellent citizens and the Eclipse hopes that this worthy couple may live to enjoy many more years of happiness. The Royal Neighbors of which Mr. and Mrs. Knott are members tendered them a fine reception and after their regular meeting occurred the "wedding" of one of its most popular members, Betsy Knott. At the appointed hour, to the strains of "Here comes the Bride" the wedding march started led by the flower girl, then the bride on the arm of Harry Juel, who gave the bride away, and then came the four bride's maids.
The bride was dressed in a gown of white and carried a wreath of apple blossoms and wore a long becoming veil. The wedding party met the groom and parson at the altar and solemnly took upon themselves new vows, after which the newlyweds were presented with two gold pieces as a slight token of the Neighbors esteem of this favorite couple. The Neighbors then extended congratulations and best wishes for many more happy anniversaries. After the ceremony delicious refreshments were served.
The first wedding of this couple was solemnized in England May 14, 1874.

"Phillip R, b 9 May 1878 in England, d 18 May 1934 in Omaha Nebraska. He was married to Carrie Emma Busch (may be Emma Carrie) on Nov 12, 1902
Phillip R. Knott was born 9 May, 1878 in England. He married Carrie Emma in Parkersburg Iowa. She was born 25 July 1880, possibly in Parkersburg, and died 30 January 1937, in Lennox S.D., and is buried in Omaha. Her parents were Frich Busch, and Trientje Schnus, both born in Germany.
Phillip and Carrie tried for 12 years to have children. My grandmother, was born 27 January, 1914 in Omaha. There were no more children.
Phillip died 18 May 1934. My mother told me that he was the comptroller for the Omaha schools and had invested the teachers retirement in the stock market, which crashed in 1929. After 5 years of guilt, he committed suicide. Margie (my aunt Marjorie) told me this morning that Carrie wasted away after Phillip's death. In January 1937, her mother, who lived in S.D. became ill. Carrie went to take care of her but they both died of the influenza, Trientje on 22 January and Carrie on 30 January. (Frich had died in 1900)."
Phillip married Emma Carrie BUSCH on 12 Nov 1902 in , , Iowa. Emma was born 25 Jul 1880 in Parkersburg, Butler, Iowa. She died 30 Jan 1937 in Lennox, Lincoln, South Dakota and was buried in Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska.
