Thanks for your email.
I have looked back on my records but don't think you are related.
My Edward and Elizabeth Howden came to N.Z. on the Rangitiki in 1876. They were believed to be cousins. Elizabeths surname was also Howden.
Edwards parents were George Howden and Mary Hall.
Elizabeth parents were Thomas Howden and Ann Rice.
But they may have been cousins to your Alexander.
