William Howden was I believe the second born son of David Howden and his wife Ann Weir. The children are listed as John,William,David,James,Jessie S.W., Ann ,Thomas and Ebenezer.
Ebenezer was I believe the youngest of the family and my grandfather. He had four sons the youngest of whom was my father also Ebenezer(Ben).
Our family believed that William Howden had moved to Australia following his soccer career. Pride was taken that his name continued to appear in the annual publication the "wee red book" which lists all those who have represented Scotland in a football international.
My grandfather remained in Glasgow and eventually worked in the shipyards.
I am aware that his brother David also remained in Glasgow and was a publican.
His sisters Jessie and Ann moved to the USA where they have extended family several of whom I have met. His brother Thomas served as an ambulance driver in France in the WWI where he married and remained. Thomas had a son and daughter, his son Gerrard being still alive.
This is the first occasion I have been successful in my attempts to trace William other than the various references to his football career.
I would be delighted to hear in what part of the world he did end up in.
I am sure that the various family members I am in contact with would be delighted to hear more of him and his family.
