As you can see our "Mcalister" has only one "l".A large number (12) of Howdens came to Australia in the early 1850's and settled in an area North of Melbourne.A few years ago one of the descendants organised a reunion. The guest list was closed at about 250! Originally the family came from East Peaston in Scotland. The "Family History" that was compiled starts with the marriage of George Howden (1767-1843) to Marion Bee (1766-1846).I hope that this information can lead you a little further along the trail. I met you grandmother (my first cousin) in 1951-53 when I was in UK.What happened to her sisters, Marjory & Molly?
