Joseph Hubley
April 5, 1901
On Friday last at two o'clock in the afternoon, at his home in Charlotte township, occurred the death of Joseph Hubley from
heart failure. He was sitting talking with a neighbor when he fell over in his chair and expired almost instantly.
Joseph Hubley was born in Ebarg, Canton Schwitz, Switzerland, May 18, 1844 and came to America in May 1866, settling in Menard
county, Ill. In 1881 he came to Chatsworth and in 1886 moved to the place in Charlotte township, where he lived until the time of
his death. He married Ellen Pearson, February 12, 1875, who with two sons survive him.
The funeral was held on Monday morning at the SS. Peter and Paul's church and the remains were laid to rest in the Chatsworth cemetery,
beside those of his son, who died while the family lived south of this city. The surviving children, Joseph, who resides on the
home place, and Anton, of Newport, Arkansas, with the mother and friends mourn the loss of a kind father and husband and good
neighbor.
