I hope all this fits - if not get me on [email protected] and I'll reply with a whole load of Huggetts going back to the mid 1600s.The indents for each generation have dropped out of the copy/paste, but Richard Huggett and Elizabeth Collins had several children, all born in England before they emigrated.Horne is a village near today's Gatwick airport, Surrey.
Richard, b.08/06/1803 in Horne, Surrey, England, baptised 03/07/1803 at St Mary’s, Horne- d. 04/06/1882 Upper Maffra, Victoria, Aus.Beneficiary of one fifth of his father’s residual estate in 1839.He emigrated with his wife and some of his children in 1849 on board the “Ann Milne” (departing Gravesend 09/02/1849, arriving Pt. Philip 19/05/1849) to Victoria, Aus.He lived in Tandridge in 1832 as a carpenter (Thomas’ baptism entry); he was a carpenter in Godstone on William‘s and George’s and Jane’s baptism entries.The record states that he was a carpenter to be employed by a Mr Wickham of Melbourne.He supposedly made cannonballs in Australia and also worked on the Yan Ean project before becoming a farmer at Riverslea.
