Hi Roberta,
Is it possible that your John Hughes and Elizabeth Rogers could be the parents of my John b. 1821. ?Since they were married around 1818. Do you have any info on their children ? I have notes from My grandma Olive Hughes (daughter of John 1821)Her notes say ; John A. Hughes parents died when he was quite young. He was raised by Edward O'Neil at Jacks Run, P.A. near Bellvue, P.A. I tried looking up this place and it was in Allegheny Co., P.A. I have heard that part of what is now Beaver Co. was Allegheny Co. in the past.
Olive also had siblings for her Dad; John (1821) They are David , James , William , Elizabeth (married Powers)Olive had her Dad listed 4th in the list so he may have been the 4th child born.
I have a 1820 census for a John Hughes age 45 & up living near a Edward Oneil in Pine Twp, in Allegheny Co. P.A. Also a 1830 census Ohio Twp., Allegheny Co. P.A.for John Hughes age 30 - 40 wife around the same age. kids - 1 male under 5and 1 male under 10; 1 female under 5 and 2 under 10. There is a male and female age 60 to 70 there also. There is another in the same place for John Hughes age 60 - 70 living near a Edward O'Neil.
John Hughes (1821)was born in Pine Twp., Allegheny Co. ,P.A. I have these census for him ; 1850 Ward 2 Allegheny Co. P.A. ,1860 Wilkins Twp., Allegh. Co., 1870 Braddock, Allegheny Co., 1880 Beaver Falls, Beaver Co.He died 14 - Mar.- 1898 in Beaver Co., P.A. The census have his parents listed as born in P.A.
Please let me know if you have any other info.
Thanks
Marsha Clark
