Dolores Huizar Guerrero - San Antonio
I hope you are all doing well.
I do have some questions that someone may be able answer. My 2nd Great Grandmother on my mother’s side was Dolores Huizar (also spelled Wisar and Wizer). She was born about 1832 and married to Rosalio Guerrero. They had a daughter named Trenidad (my Great Grandmother)
I found an 1850 census document for “Free Inhabitants of West Side of San Antonio River”.It shows two families of Guisars living in close proximity near San Antonio:
Family 1:
Teodora Gurrier – Age 70 – I think this might be Maria Teodora Guerrero Huizar
Bruno Guisar
Franciso Guisar
Gravilla Guisar
Paubla Guisar
Lesario Guisar
Delores Guisar -Age 20 - Born Abt 1832( I think this might be my 2nd Great Grandmother)
Juan Guisar – Age 19
Jesusa Heeler
Family 2
Sefarino Guisar
Olalia Guisar
Teresa Guisar
Vecente
Saferino Guisar
Gravilla Guisar
Some of the names and ages do not match other research exactly, but there are some similarities.
The Delores in this 1850 census may be my 2nd Great grandmother, but I can’t figure out who her parents are.Because of her age, I think one of the following might apply:
1. She is the daughter of Jose Bruno. She is living in the same house as Bruno, but I cannot find Jose Bruno was married and had children.
2. She is the daughter of Jose Antonio and Maria Teodora.Teodora would have birthed Dolores late in life (Early 50s).This would make her Jose and Teodoras last child.Probably not possible.
3. She is the daughter of Zeferino Huizar and Trinidad Garcia (first wife to Zeferino).Dolores is living under the same roof with Juan (Her supposed brother and son to Zeferino and Trinidad). Zeferino and Olalia (2nd wife) have a new family, so maybe she decided to live with her Grandmother Teodora.Additionally, my Great Grandmothers name was Trenidad, so maybe Trenidad was named after her grandmother Trinidad Garcia.I think this is plausible.
This could be all wrong, but I can find no other documentation to show Dolores’s family. From discussions with my mother, she stated Dolores was born in San Antonio and owned property. She does not know much more. She was always under the assumption that her last name was spelled Wisar or Wizer. My older brother also accomplished a DNA test this year and discovered a strong connection to the Canary Islands on my mother’s side.I am not sure if the Islands means anything with regards to the Huizars.
I hope I did not confuse anyone. This whole genealogy thing is new to me.Any help or insight you can provide would be appreciated. I may need to take a vacation to San Antonio and accomplish additional hands on research.
I also have information that may show Dolores remarried after the Civil War, but this is purely a guess on my part. I cannot find Rosalio and Dolores together after the 1860s, other than my Great Grandmother death cert from 1915.
