I believe they did. There were a lot Hulans in that area from 1850-1970's. I have looked up all the census records they were in. Their Grandson, Archie Hulan, which is my Great Grandfather. My Grandfather, his brothers and his cousins stayed around that general area for a long time.
They have all sold the property they inherited except my Uncle and one of his first cousins. Archie may have inherited it from his parents, George Washington and Emma Gower Hulan. The Gower family owned a lot of land in that area. My Grandfather said when he was a kid, they walked through the fields from Charlotte Pike, across Old Charlotte Pike along side Overall Creek and went to school at the original Gower School/church on Gower Road.
