MARY HOWE HUME & CHARLES C HUME

Does anyone know if Charles C Hume, 1835-1906, Boone Co Ky is actually the son of John Sleet Hume, 1798-1871 & Mary Howe Hume, 1799-1832, Boone Co Ky.

I think Mary's death year of 1832 & Charles' birth year of 1835 make it a bit impossible.

Is Charles really the son of John Sleet Hume & a second wife?Who is the second wife??

I have searched myself silly and find nothing other thanCharles is in the 1850 census for Boone Co with John Sleet & siblings.
