Hi Gayle, Thanks for replying to my query.I have read the same information about John Humphreys & George.George also had at least one son named William.From what I have learned, I believe that George lived in Mississippi after 1818 because I know that at least one of his sons was born there.Still there must have been a tie to the two families since they both wound up in Red River Co. at the same time, with John coming some 30 years earlier.Since George bought land around 1848 there, I assume that he arrived shortly before that time.He is like a phantom -- but I'm going to keep on his trail!
