I think some of the older members knew that everything was not as it seemed with Ruth Persinger Humphries. Now that I think about it my grandfather must have been told something. He would talk about the others and who they were related to and he certainly knew the name but he never said much about her. He must have confused mulatto with black because until I read some of the posts on the forums I did. Of course to some of them Indian might be just as bad. Today it is cool to have Indian blood but to them it might have been something they were ashamed of having. A DNA test might help answer some questions. The journals are good because so many things in them we would never have any way of knowing. My grandparents on both sides told us so many stories and now I hate that I never wrote any of them down. All I can remember are bits and pieces.
