An element in prior message of this date is in error. I meant to suggest that Stephen, husband of Hannah, was a possible brother to Nathanial Hungerford, Sr., - not Jr.
I've now looked at a National Archives document regarding Sarah's pension application of Oct. 1866. It was witnessed by James Hungerford (who signed his mark "X") and in turn his mark was witnessed by William Purchase. Mr. Purchase represents one of the families which seems to have had long ties to this part of the Hungerford family. In a separate affidavit, mention was made by local witnesses that they had personally known Sarah since 1843.
