You have been doing yeoman's work on this line of inquiry.I must apologize as I'm juggling several things at once.I plan to respond to all your messages in as thorough a manner as possible--but it will be a day or two from now.I've been researching ALL Hungerfords--a very big task--and I have more data available than I can digest in a short time.
A quick statement and an answer to one of your questions.First--I have 99.9% of all the Hungerford census records.I plan to check all the 1840 census records for any Steven/Stephen Hungerfords.I am guilty of a "Ready, Fire, Aim" reply to you re the 1840 Michigan census Hungerfords.I know Stephen and Eliza (Paddock) Hungerford were in Commerce, MI in 1840 because the aforementioned "Stephen Hungerford, Who Married Eliza Paddock And His Descendants" states: Moved his family in 1837 to Commerce, Oakland Co., Michigan.Moved to Concord, MI after 1850.(Plus his family does fit the 1840 profile.)
I've been doing a study of the 1850 thru 1920 censuses as they name all the family members.I was planning to then try to make the "jump" from 1850 back to 1840 and figure out who goes where.I am currently in the 1910 census records--so I probably can go back to the 1840 census records without too much trouble.
Regarding your question about Nathaniel Sr. & Jr.--yes, they are part of the "published" lines.I know who begat whom...
