I would appreciate any and all your assistance of connecting with Lillay, descendant of George "Siaosi" HUNKIN born Leone, Tutuila, Samoa before USA 1900 annexation.
George HUNKIN's father, Matthew HUNKIN, was older brother to John HUNKIN, my gg-grandfather. I have been tracing George HUNKIN since his departure from Samoa to Sydney,New South Wales,Australia and upward to Thursday Island,Queensland where he marries Kirez Mageram.
My thoughts have been:
What is the name of ship he arrives on? And does he land in Sydney?
Is he met by his father's sister's [Imogene HUNKIN ROBINS] son William ROBINS? George and William are first cousins.
And did George ever correspond with anyone back home since leaving Samoa? His father? Mother?
I've read somewhere that he was sent to Sydney for "higher education" so I know he knew the Samoan language. Did any descendants also speak or was taught to converse in Samoan or learn of Samoan history, culture, traditions, etc.?
I have always meant to ask these nagging questions long ago but I was led on another trail dealing with the ROBINS and hope we are able to connect in the new year.
