John, your info was right on!!!The family you found in the 1850 Tipton Co., TN, census was some of the following members of my wife's ancestor's family:
James Goodrum Hunley (b. 4 Feb. 1818) and wife Frances Nicholson Adams (b. 19 Jan 1823 KY), with children:
Martha Lou Hunley b. 30 Dec. 1844 ; m. a Mr. White William L. Hunley b. 22 Nov 1846 ; m. Annie Maria E. Hunley b. 29 Apr 1849; m. Mr. Drummond Bettie H. Hunley b. 21 Sep 1851 Robert C. Hunley b. 17 Feb 1854; m. Bell Collin A. Hunley b. 22 Oct 1855; m. Ada Hoppess John Wesley Hunley b. 1 Jun 1859; m. Florence Frances "Fannie" Rozella Hunley b. 12 Apr. 1863 Memphis, TN
The above Frances Hunley was my wife's g-grandmother who married Arthur Lee Winston in Dallas, TX, 19 Sep 1889.
I also suspect the William Hunley (age 68 b. VA) and Martha Hunley (age 66 b. VA) may be the parents of James Goodrum Hunley: William Hunley, Jr., b. 31 Jan 1783 Lunenburg Co., VA and Patsy Martha Adams b. 10 Jan 1784 who were married 11 Nov 1816 in Sumner Co., TN.(I wonder why they counted as weren't living in the same household?) According to my web site source, Martha was William's 2nd wife.He married 1st Nancy Stone 3 Dec 1805 in Lunenburg Co., VA. and had one son William Hunley II, b. 5 Feb 1809.
I hope someone can connect with one of the above persons.Meanwhile, I really aprreciate your help.
