Am trying to trace descendants of a Robert Taylor (c1715-c1807)of Northampton Co, VA and Rutherford Co, NC.He probably was born in Virginia. In 1758 he was "of Northampton Co, VA" when he purchased 300 acres on Lizard Creek in then Northampton Co, NC from Christopher Robinson and 30 acres from Jesse Gillham. In 1764 this area of Northampton Co was included in the new county of Bute.In 1768 Robert Taylor and his son Caleb along with Matthew Myrick in a Bute Co, NC road order for the road leading from Eaton's Ferry to the Northampton Co line. In 1769 Robert Taylor sold off parts of his land on Lizard Creek to his sons Caleb Taylor and Joshua Taylor. In 1773 Caleb Taylor sold his land to Matthew Myrick.
Robert Taylor and his sons Caleb and Joshua were in Tryon (now Rutherford) Co, NC by 1774.In his LWT probated in Rutherford Co, NC in 1807, Robert Taylor left a legacy to his daughter Mary and her husband Hartwell Honeycutt. This Hartwell Honeycutt was apparently a son of John and Mary (Rowell) Hunnicut of Northampton Co, NC.Hartwell Hunnicut had received a royal land grant of 250 acres in 1765 on McClendel's Creek in then Cumberland Co, NC (now probably Moore Co).He apparently had at least two sons, Rowland (or Rowell?) Honeycutt who married his probable cousin Martha Taylor in Rutherford Co, NC in 1797, and Hartwell Taylor Hunnicut, who moved to Pendleton Dist, SC and later to Greene Co, IL.
Would appreciate any help on tracing theseTaylor and Honeycutt/Hunnicutt families of Northampton Co, NC.
