I have lost the Hunnicutt papers that Brian Honeycutt sent to me.In any case, my ancestor, Roland Hunnicutt, son of Robert, father of James Buchanan, traces his ancestry back to a William Huncoate who came to Virginia in the first half of the 17th-century (~1630s).
William's son is the first Augustine Hunnicutt in early Virginia.Thereafter there are two or more Augustines that follow in my line unitl you get to Robert.
I believe Robert moved his family from Virginia to North Carolina.Rumour has it that they were Quakers.Regardless, Roland's wife Lavina Ferguson was from North Carolina.
Robert's family moved back to Virginia and then on to Tennessee. From there Roland's family moved to Texas.
As far as the Louis Hunnicutt will is concerned, Uncle Louis got his distant nephews' names crossed - i.e., James Washington and George Buchanan vs. James Buchanan and George Washington - which is not surprising. My gggrandfather is burried in the Texas hill country on Miller's Creek. His headstone reads James Buchanan Hunnicutt. Not that this needs to be stated, since I was able to meet many of James B's grandchildren, the sons and daughters of my ggrandfather James Roland Hunnicutt.
For more details, I would suggest that you try to contact Brian.Geneology is a back burner item with me right now.
