Thanks, Wayne. Since I sent this message, I've found out that my Honeycutt is a William Alfred Honeycutt, born 1861 died October 12, 1889, who married Laura Eugenia Reed, born June 10,1861, died Dec 24, 1897 and they lived in Mount Mourne, in the farthest southern part of Iredell County. This is from information provided by Lee Boyd Honeycutt in Cornelius NC, which lies in Mecklenburg County, but only a few miles from Iredell County. Lee Boyd was born August 1, 1881 and died in 1975. He was my grandmother's uncle. My Honeycutts came from Stanly County, but it seems they weren't close to THE Stanly Honeycutts. It's very confusing. However, my William came to Iredell with his step grandmother, met Laura, daughter of Wm H Reid of the Lincoln County Reids, and got married. William's father was John W. Honeycutt, who was killed at the Battle of Chancellorsville on May 3, 1863. His mother was Elizabeth Cagle, whose family is well documented in Stanly County. Her father was George Cagle and, as best as I can deduce, her mother was a Elizabeth (Mary)Whitley, again a well-represented family in Stanly County. Wayne, I don't know if this is your Honeycutt. I do know there are plenty of Iredell Honeycutts farther north in the county. A 93 year-old daughter of Lee Boyd insists that William and Laura are buried at McKendree Chapel, but the only Honeycutt's listed are Wm T and his Whitlow wife. Since they were contemporaries it's easy to see how they can be confused. Wayne, please let me know if you think we share the same Honeycutts.
