I recently learned that the oldest brother of these 4 Hunnicutt soldiers was also a Civil War veteran. Wilson Hunnicutt enlisted in the 18th Ohio Infantry, Company F, organized in September, 1861 at Camp Wool, Athens Co., Ohio. After 2 month's training at Ft. Dennison, near Cincinnati, they boarded the steamer 'Jacob Strader' for the trip downriver to Louisville, Ky.
The 18th participated in the Battle of Chickamauga and the siege of Chattenooga.
The 3 year enlistment for most men was up in late 1864 and Wilson, among others, was mustered out at Fort Chase, Ohio 9 Nov 1864 with the rank of Corporal. He was 44 years old at this time.
So that makes 5 Hunnicutt brothers active in the Civil War.
