My family was descended from Valentine Hunsicker. He came from Schwartzwald (the German Black Forest) 70 miles north of Zurich. Apparently this region was the stopping place of the Huns - probably during the time of Atilla -- the tribe left its name imprint -- Hunsruck, Hunsruechen -- Huns Valley --- the original Hunsicker came from Hunseck meaning Huns Valley...
Valentine Hunsicker, an orphan, came to the US with his maternal grandfather, Valentine Klemmer in 1717 -- they stayed in Germantown Pa briefly then went to Bucks County..he became a deacon in the Mennonite Church and was quite successful as a farmer. He died in l771 and left seven children. His farm land stayed in the family for 170 years.
I have this information from the Hunsicker Family Book, printed privately by Lippincott.
