I am trying to find if anyone has any source documents for the parents and greandparents of Hartman Hunsaker. I have seen many "theories" of who they were, but have yet to find anyone with documents to prove it.
I have a friend that found a book in a little antique shop in Germany. This book was printed in the 18th Century. It leads me to believe that the Hunsaker name was originally Hunziker/Hunsinger. Now the problem we are having is that this book is written in "Old German". We are desperately trying to get this book translated, but very few can translate this "Old German". The only source we have come up with so far asked for $5,000 to translate it.
The only translation so far that was done was a letter that was written by this friends great Grandfater (I am not sure what generation). In this letter it speaks of 12 preachers that were imprisioned for religious persecution. I believe one of these men to be Hartman. Although the records I find of his imprionment has his last name listed as Honacre. There are several others imprisioned with the same last name. I do know however that the Hunsingers were quite vocal about their religious beliefs as is evidenced by the debates they participated in in the 1600's.
So If anyone can shed light on this time period, such as source documents for Hartman's parents etc... I feel as though we will be able to go back many more generations in the Hunsaker research.
