ROBERT DEAN HUNSUCKER, 76, of Houston passed away on Friday, August 3, 2001. He was born near Winchester, Kansas on March 8, 1925 to James Glenn Hunsucker and Lydia Melinda Hogan Hunsucker. He graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas in 1952 with a BBA degree. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII, including duty in the South Pacific. His total professional working career after college was with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company where he started as an accounts payable clerk. He was transferred to Houston in 1966 and retired in January of 1990 as Chairman and C.E.O. of PanEnergy Corp. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Hunsucker. Mr. Hunsucker held many memberships including Lakeside Country Club, River Oaks Country Club, The Arabia Shrine Temple of Houston, Masonic Lodge of North Kansas City and many oil, gas and pipeline business and charitable organizations until retirement in January of 1990. Mr. Hunsucker was active in The Christian Church Disciples of Christ from an early childhood, he and his wife were charter members of Memorial Drive Christian Church in Houston and Hillside Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a trustee of Texas Christian University for several years until becoming Emeritus trustee in 1990 and held many church positions in Christian Churches of which he was a member, including: Elder, Deacon and President of the Board. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Everett Hunsucker whom he married on June 30, 1948 at the First Christian Church of Topeka, Kansas. Also surviving: son, Dr. Timothy Hunsucker and wife, Dr. Janet Mohr and grandson, James Hunter Hunsucker of St. Simons Island, GA; daughter, Tara Hunsucker and husband, Ken Parrott and granddaughter, Jennifer "Jenna" Michelle Parrott of Houston; brother, Richard Hunsucker and wife, Carol of Rockville, MD; sisters-in-law, Lily Hunsucker of Kansas City, MO and Dorothy Bell of Denver, CO, and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives. Friends may call for visitation with the family on Sunday, August 5, 2001 at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2001 at Memorial Drive Christian Church, 11750 Memorial Drive, with Rev. Todd Adams officiating. Private entombment services will follow in Memorial Oaks Mausoleum.
