My name is Geraldine Ashley Miller and I am doing research on my Hunt family from Cleveland County, N. Carolina and just saw your forum andit looks like we might have a connection. My mother was Minnie Beatrice Hunt, born Sept.06, 1902 in Cleveland Co., NC.to William Bryce Hunt andhis wife Sarah Munor Lail.William Bryce Hunt was born Jan. 20, 1878 in Burke Co, N.C. to John C. Hunt and Rebecca Proctor and was listed as being 1 year old on the 1880 Census of Cleveland Co., N.C..His father, John C. Hunt, was listed as 20 years old on the same 1880 census. And just above John C. Hunt, on the 1880 census, there is listed a William Hunt, age 69, who would have been born around 1810 or 1811, with a wife named maybe Bertha age 58, along with a daughter Rachel, age 25, a daughter Alice age 17, and a son Robert age 14, and it also list 3 grandchildren. It appears that this might possibly be my John C. Hunt's parents and the son of your William Kinchen Hunt.Family members and my mother say that my John C. Hunt died when Willam Bryce Hunt was abt. 12 years old, this would have been in 1889 or before the 1900 census was taken, as he is not listed with his wife and 2 daughters.I have just recently become aware of this William Hunt age 69, listed on the 1880 census and as of yet not had a chance to look at the 1870 census to see if I can find John C.Hunt listed with this William Hunt and his family. Then I read your forum and it looked like there might be a connection, so I wanted to contact you and see if we could maybe connect our Hunts.I have a completed family tree from John C. and Rebecca Proctor Hunt down through my William Bryce Hunt and all of his descendants that I just completed this week.If you and I are able to connect our Hunts I will gladly share my information.I know that John C. and his wife had a fairly large plot of land that they owned and farmed in Cleveland Co. and that she stayed on the farm and she and the daughter farmed it even after my grandfather married and possibly after he left N.C. sometime between July 1904 and Feb. of 1906.He, William Bryce and his family were forced to leave N.C. because of him being involved in a killing and him not having an alibi for the time of it.So he and his family traveled around from N.C., Georgia, and into Titus Co., Texas where they lived until he died in 1945.I am told that after several years he went back to see his mother, but I am not for sure just when, and I am not for sure just when she died or where she was at at the time of her death.I may can find this out as I still have one uncle and another uncle's wife living who might be able to tell me.William Bryce and Sarah had 7 or 8 children, 3 were born dead, 1 died at age 33, 3 others have died within the last 12 or 15 years, the other one will be 84 years old in May.He lives in Arizona.I will be 59 this month, I'm married and have 3 children and 4 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.I retired 6 years ago from working for the State of Okla. in a home for retarded persons.I now do genealogy, and have a small home based business of cake baking& decorating, do wedding and etc, along with crafts and floral designs.Ny husband works for a gasoline refineryin Wynnewood. We live on a small acreage abt. 8 miles out of Wynnewood.Enough abt. me for now, looking forward to hearing from you.My home address is Geraldine Ashley Miller,RT.#2 BOX 202, Old Mill Road, Wynnewood, Okla. 73098.Telephone # 405-665-4894.mY FAX # IS 405-665-9969.I can be reached either way or by the above E-MAIL address. Thanks for your time and hope my information is helpful.Sincerely Geraldine Ashley Miller
