I have a Samuel Hurt and Martha Belcher as my great-great grandparents.I am descended through Sarah Franklin Hurt, daughter of Samuel. This is the line that I have been researching lately.If his name is William Samuel that may expain why I haven't found a birth record or parents.He is found as Samuel Hurt in the 1880 census at Beaver Pond, Mercer, West Virginia.
Samuel Hurt,38,born in VA, farmer,F-born IRE, M-VA
Martha Hurt, 36, " in WV,keeping house, parent born VA
children-Robert 13, Mahalah 10, Ward 7, Sarah 4, Mary 3, Flod. 5 months.
I also found Marthas' mother Mahalah 75, living with her brother William Belcher in the same community.I have a little more info, if you want to communicate my e-mail is [email protected] exciting!!I didn't have their birthdates!!Thank you, Kandie
