I can confirm a marriage took place at St Mary's Chard on 24 Nov 1855 between George Coles and Kezia Hussey. George, a bachelor of full age (over 21) was described as a mason resident at Smiths Court Chard, his father John was a mason: Kezia, who didn't sign (left her mark) was a spinster of full age, a lace mender resident at High St Chard, her father Joseph an ostler. Witnesses to the marriage, which followed banns, were Joshua Forsey & Richard Unknown (perhaps Gregory).
George & Kezia can be found in 1861 & 1871 census returns living in Old Town, Chard, with children George, Kesia, Maria, Ariah and Ann. It seems Kezia (senior) died in 1872 - BMDQ 1872/1 Chard 5c/341 - and George re-married four years later, on 25 Dec 1876, again at St Mary's Chard, this time to Caroline Down.
