The claim that William Hutchison of Loudoun County, VA, exact birth date unproven and unknown and died in 1788 in Loudoun County and father of Joseph Hutchison (1756-1842), and husband of Susanna Dodson was a son of Andrew Hutchison has not been documented or proven and is likely false. One must remember that there were other William Hutchisons in Virginia and in this region (Prince William County, later Fairfax County, later Loudoun County) during this era. Also, the estate of this William Hutchison (d 1788) was meager to say the least. I have a copy of the court's recording of his intestate estate.
I have traced this William Hutchison's only known son, Joseph, and Joseph's descendants. There has been no credible evidence to support the claim that his father, William Hutchison (d 1788) was a son of Andrew Hutchison and Jane Browning.Anyone who has seriously attempted to trace the Hutchisons of northern Virginia will attest to the fact that the task is extremely difficult because there were so many of them.
William Hutchison who died in 1788 in Loudoun County, Virginia, did not live near to Chantilly. He lived west of Leesburg in Shelburne Parish. (See: Bk: PG: 1:372, 374 Date: 9 June 1773 Returned to Court: 14 Sep 1773 John Anderson of Fqr to William Hutchison of Ldn. Lease/release of 100 ac adj. John Hanby. Wit: Francis Peyton, Alexander McPherson, John Walker, Nath. McPherson, Henry Parker.) This was the first purchase of land by this William Hutchison. The 100 acres was land that William had leased for several years.
The notion that there was a William Hutchison named in a will of Andrew Hutchison does not prove that the William Hutchison who died in 1788 was that William. There were numerous William Hutchisons in this general geographic area.
