George Ice, Collin County Texas
I am looking for information about George W. Ice of Collin county Texas.
Here is what I know:
George W. Ice served as a private in Company E 22nd Texas Cavalry Regiment CSA .
This regiment included a number of Collin County Texas men.
George Ice, Collin County, is on the Confederate Indigent Families List (1863-67)
He is not listed on the 1867 Texas Voters' Registration.
He is not on the Collin county tax rolls between 1855 and 1870.
The 1860 Collin county Texas census apparently has a number of missing pages and pages out of order in Precinct 1 (on the microfilm).George is not on it.The 1860 Collin county Texas census did include a Elizabeth Ice, 16,living with a James family. She is indexed as Ice, but it could be Lee.(An Elizabeth A. Ice married William P. Waggener 24 Mar 1870 Hunt County Texas.)
The 1870 Collin county Texas census include listings for Martha Simpson, 26, with three children and (her sister) Belle Ice, 20.
The 1870 Collin county Texas census also included Louisa Ice (42 born AL) with her daughter (Mary, 22, born AL), son-in-law, Jahu Strode and their children.
Martha (Ice) Simpson is listed with her husband Enoch Simpson in 1860 Smith County. (She married him 18 Feb 1858 in Rusk county Texas).
George Ice is not on the 1850 Smith county Texas, 1850 Rusk county Texas or 1870 Collin county Texas census.
A G. W. Ice married a A. L. Camperon 27 Jun 1855 Smith county Texas.
I know that Martha, Belle (and perhaps Elizabeth) are members of the Andrew Ice family that moved to Rusk county Texas from Marshall county AL ca 1849.Is George W. Ice a member of that family? Is Louisa Ice his wife? She is buried in the Altoga (Collin county) Texas cemetery. Her daughter was Mary Adeline Vann Strode. So Louisa may have been married to a Vann before ____ Ice.Where does the A. L. Camper come in?
Any ideas from the Ice family researchers?
