I'm also interested in the other Iams out there in Bedford in the early days. A Rachel Iams married Elisha Huff in 1770, somewhere I saw her age as 18, so she was born around 1752. Our William is down as born in 1755, but I think that is only because he says he is over 45 in 1800. He could have been a little older. Then who is this Hugh Iams? He hangs around on the censuses until 1850, when he's 70 to 80, same age as he says on the 1840! Say he was 81 in 1850, that puts his birth around 1769, a little young for the first William and Rachel's generation, but not impossible. On the 1790 Bedford Census is Hughey James, dang! who's he! Has anyone traced the James family lines out there? I checked my copy of William Iams will and it isn't the origional. It's the handwritten copy entered into the Bedford County Pa. records long after William Sr.died.
