Richard ILEY I
b. c. 1771, GA, d. ca. 1856 in Burke Co, GA
married twice. His first wife was a Creek Indian woman. Her name is unknown. They had four children, I am descended from John ILEY born 1796 in Burke Co, GA.
You can find much more information about the Ileys in the book, "Richard Iley and 3200 Descendants," by Edwena and Volney Iley (now deceased).
I have been told that there are people named Iley of Creek descent in Florida, but I have not been able to find them. There are no Ileys on the Dawes rolls, except for a fullblooded Seminole infant whose Mother spoke no English, her infant's given name is Iley.(The Seminoles were Creek Indians who retreated in Florida at the time of the GA cessions, and became a separate tribe.)
I have not heard of any Cherokee Ileys. However, I am not the foremost researcher on this line, so that doesn't prove anything. Information about the Native American ancestry is very scant; so please share anything you might have!
