Samuel Insull Jr. sells father's estate for $50, 1940
St. Charles (Illinois) Chronicle, March 7, 1940:
Samuel Insull Jr. to sell Father’s Estate for $50.00
Samuel Insull Jr., now residing in Geneva, filed a recent petition in the Probate court, asking permission to sell his executor’s interest in the estate of his father for $50. The trustees, William C. Freeman and Peter R. Carey, have made such an offer, the petition stated. Attorney Kirk Gibbon said this was done to simplify bookkeeping for the trustees, who would then be sole owners of the property. Insull’s trust estate consists most of real estate valued at $938,000, but subject to claims of almost 20 times the value.
