Susan,
Thank you so much for your reply to my post. First, let me tell you what my interest in the Inwood family is. Jeanette Baldridge was the niece of my great grandmother, Phebe (or Phoebe) Baldridge Garrison. Jeanette's father, Robert, was Phebe's brother.Though I came to Long Beach from New Jersey in 1959, I was not aware I had any relatives in California other than my brother, and my sister who were also transplants from NJ. When I retired and began researching, I was much surprised to learn of my connections to the California Baldridges.
You probably have as much info on the Inwoods as I, but I will tell you what I know. EJ Inwood Married Jeanette Merritt Baldridge in Covina, Ca. The marriage ceremony was performed by Edwin's brother, Alfred. Alfred married Jeanette's sister, Agnes Isabella (this may have been second marriage for both). Jeanette died July 3, 1955, Agnes died July 11, 1949. Adopted son, Reginald, died Sept 17, 1974. Edwin died in April 1937. I don't have Alfred's date of death at hand. Edwin was minister at one time of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Long Beach; and brother Alfred was minister of the M.E. church in the California Heights section of L.B. I have a copy of Edwin's obit from the April 20, 1937 edition of the Long Beach Press Telegram.
Daughter Grace married an Armstrong, I believe from Indiana, who was an electrical engineer for Southern California Edison. Another Daughter, Ruth married a Harry Drown.
Reginald was, as you say, a designer of churches in California. But he also designed a hotel/apartment building around 1929 in the Belmont Heights section of L.B. which is still occupied and is considered an icon in Long Beach. He also designed the Fox Belmont Theater in The Belmont shore area, which since sometime in the "80's closed and was converted into an athletic club.
I'm sure there are other bits of info that I may have forgotten, but I will let you know anything I find. If you would like to e-mail me, my e-mail address is: [email protected]
Thanks again, Fred Mundy
