Alexander Irvine William & Mary College 1720's

Looking for info on Alexander Irvine, Professor of Mathematics at William & Mary College in the late 1720's.He helped survey the dividing line between Virginia and North Carolina with William Byrd and William Mayo.He was educated at Edinburg, Scotland and emigrated to the Colonies sometime in the 1720's.He died in 1732. Does anyone know who his father was? His wife? Any children?What ship he came on or where he landed?Thanks,Edwin
