Yes I noticed no places. The guy that posted the information emailed me.He says his John Marshall Isaacs was born in Lincoln County, VA (possibly now Lincoln County KY).Here is part of his email:
"There is an Isaacs Family cemetery on a farm between Bradfordsville and Danville, Kentucky, which is in need of repair.I believe John and Mary are buried there. This farm was orginally Swann land but the Isaacs owned it until the latter part of the last century. My grandfather lived here with his grandfather, Elisha Isaacs @ 1850.In an old Marion County paper I found the death of Elisha. The article stated he was born 1785 at Fort Harrod, Va. (now Ky., the first permanent settlement in Ky).I thought Mary went to the fort for help with the birth from the women there. Then I learned her sister married one of the Harrods back in Pa. She was going to family for the birth of her child.
Mary married Samuel Moore, first and had one child.Samuel was killed on a scouting mission for George Rogers Clark. This must have been when she met and married John Isaacs.Their marriage is in Lincoln County, Ky. (or was it Lincoln County, Va. at the time of marriage, 1782)"
The man's name is Foster Nolly, in another email he says:
"What I do know about John is:He was in Kentucky by 1780.He is listed as one of George Roger Clarks men...you know the ones that won Ill., Ind., and Ohio for the Union.I know he received land in Indiana for his services to his county. He also received a warrant for land inherited from a John Isaacs (or Isaacks).
I have a working knowledge of Samuel Isaacs of Virginia.I know the will lists a grandson John. I know this John is too old to be my John. Now was this his father? Is this the Johnfrom whom he inherited the land warrant?
When you look at the names in the family they match. They also match the Isaacs family in eastern Kentucky. My John settled in Washington County, later Marion County (same land) on land owned by his wife's family, the Swanns.
John also had land in Mo. not far from where the Daniel Boones settled. Some of his children moved there with their wives and stayed."
I was hoping you would know something of this John. You seem to know more about the Isaacs/Isaacks that anyone else I have talked to.I really appreciate all the help you've givne me!Thanks a lot.And thanks for putting me straight on several Isaacs. There is a lot of bad information on the web, I agree with you that census data is hard to beat.
