Hi John
My ancestors never left for the States!!I still live in Warwickshire, 7 miles west of the county town.
I think it is quite likely that all the Warwichshire Ivens share a common ancestor, but I think that the spit between the Rugby Ivens (for example) and my own branch occured a long time ago.I think it may never be possible to find the link.
My great-grandfather (Joseph Ivens, born around 1810 in Long Compton) is the earliest I've managed to go back.At that time the family were farm workers and so tended to move from season to season looking for work. With Long Compton being close to the boundaries of four counties, the records are difficult to track down.Where there are names it is not always possible to distinguish between different people - in Long Compton (which is still a village) in around 1860 there were three William Ivens's, and each has a wife called Ann!
How much of your family history have you manged to trace in Warwickshire?
Regards
Phil
