ZACHARIAH T. JACKSON
Zachariah T. Jackson, general farmer and lumberman, resides seven miles southwest of Newport. He was born in Monroe county, Ohio, August 17, 1854. His parents were Samuel and Deborah (Stevens) Jackson, natives of Pennsylvania. When quite young they removed to Ohio and thence to
Wisconsin. Here they lived until the period of their deaths. The family were distantly related to General Jackson, "Old Hickory," and of Irish and Scotch descent. They were the parents of six children, five of whom are living; David, of Wisconsin; Jesse of Ohio; Andrew; John; and Zachariah, our subject.
The latter was reared in Sauk county, Wisconsin, where he attended the public schools, secured a fair education and worked for different farmers and his parents. In 1901 he came to Stevens county, finding various employments, and finally taking a homestead of one hundred and sixty acres of land, having upon it eight hundred thousand or one million feet of excellent saw timber.
Mr. Jackson was married in 1875, to Mary Sanborn, daughter of Daniel and Catherine Sanborn, natives of Illinois. Many years ago they located in Wisconsin, where the wife of our subject was born, and where they passed away some time since. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson have five children: Ralph; Alice; Susan, wife of Earl Rusho; Deborah, married to Daniel McTagart; and Cleveland, all of Stevens county.
The political affiliations of Mr. Jackson are with the democratic party.

Center Township
The points at which the first settlements in this Township were made cannot be ascertained. The first settlement is believed to have been made on Sunfish Creek by John Baker. It is believed he settled on the farm owned so long afterward by Isaac Barrett and later owned by Hayes Burkhead. Several improvements were made between the years 1805 and 1812. These improvements were made by John Baker, John Winland, Levin Okey, Peter Palmer and other settlers such as Elias and Joseph Jeffries, Jessie and Abraham Jackson, William Griffith, and Martin Baker.
Jesse Jackson built the first Grist mill in Centre Twp. on
Cranesnest Creek in Monroe Co., OH. In 1981 the large stones of the millcould
still be seen just east of SR 800. The mill was later owned by JohnSteed.

No record of pension applicationwas found in the Index of Rev. War Pension Applications. Will inFayette Co, Wills, Vol 1, Pg 126 ( I assume this is Fayette Co, PA).
BIOGRAPHY: DAR Apl 195128 gives fathers name as Hugh and his place ofbirth as Ireland. It also says Robert was awarded land grant of 3003/4 acres in Fayette Co, PA, Feb 7, 1785.
Robert Jackson born in Ireland. MacDonald's book contains a copy of a family Bible that confirms this, as well as his marriage to Mary Henthorn, daughter of James and Mary Henthorn, who was born in Chester Co, PA on 29 Sep 1733. James Henthorn was living in Frederick Co, MD in 1760. James Hentorn's will is recorded at Martinsburg, WV, and it lists Mary Jackson as one of his children.
Robert and Mary Henthorn Jackson's first three children (Abraham, Mary, & Isaac) were born in MD. In 1783, Robert Jackson, Sr. was an inhabitant of Manallen Twp, Westmoreland Co, PA. This then became Fayette Co, PA. His brother Hugh Jackson, Jr. had moved there earlier, and members of the Henthorn family had moved to that area also.
The will of Robert Jackson, Sr. is filled at Uniontown, PA, Vol. 1, pg 383. It was prepared on 26 May 1803 and recorded on 3 Oct 1809. The will does not mention his wife; it mentions his children as heirs, including: Abraham, Isaac and his wife Anne, Mary Thompson, Rebecca Watson, Sara Work, and Robert Jackson, Jr. Robert Jr. inherited the farms, but after selling them in 1810, he and his wife Margaret Henthorn Jackson moved to Clark Co, IN, where her father William Henthorn had already moved.
The genealogy of the "Jackson family". Prepared by Hugh Parks Jackson. Assisted by Hugh Hogue Thompson, and James R. Jackson. [Urbana, Ohio, Press of Citizen and Gazette Co.] 1890. Library of Congress Classification: CS71.J13 1890, states that this Jackson family was originally from Scotland, but that they lived in Ireland for several years prior to immigrating to America. It indicates that Robert Jackson had a brother Samuel, who was "a sturdy Quaker;" it states nothing about their father Hugh or Robert being a Quaker.
According to the 1889 History of Fayette Co indicates that Robert & Mary Henthorn Jackson, Sr. were buried near their home in Menallen, Twp along the Cumberland Rd, now US 40, but that the markers had long since disappeared.

Fermanagh is an inland county in Northern Ireland in Ulster Province province, bounded on the north by County Donegal, on the northeast by Tyrone, on the se by County Monaghan, on the south by County Cavan, and on the southwest by Leitrim. Its area is 714 square miles.
The county is picturesque with low mountains and fertile vales. It is largely taken up by basin of the upper and lower loughs Erne and the River Erne, which flows in a southeasterly direction and cuts the county in half. The chief rivers besides the Erne are the Arney and the Kilcoo.
The county towns are connected with Belfast by the Ulster Canal through Lough Neah. Lower Lough Erne is connected with loughs Melvin and Macneen by the Arney River.
There are numerous ancient castles, raths, and tumuli, and on the Isle of Devenish, in Upper Lough Erne, is a ruined abbey. The chief towns are Enniskillen, the county seat, Clones, Irvinestown, Lisnaskea, and Belleek. The county has many beautiful waterfalls and caves.
