Simon D. Jackson Tippecanoe County, Indiana
I have been researching a branch of my Cochran family tree through Jackson Cochran and came across the name Simon D. Jackson as the father of Elizabeth Jackson, Cochran's wife. The source for this information was "INDIANA ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY YEARS OF AMERICAN DEVELOPMENT Vol. 3?" By Charles Roll, A.M.?The Lewis Publishing Company, 1931.
Elizabeth Jackson's mother was listed as Louisa Bowsher, and I have confirmed through marriage records on familysearch.org that Bowsher and Jackson were married February 14, 1856 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. One question that I have is if Simon remarried after Louisa's death in 1874.
I located a Simon D. Jackson married to Asenath Chenoweth just two years after Louisa's death.(Asenath's parents were Ira M. Chenoweth and Elizabeth Shoemaker.)This Simon and his wife Asenath are buried in the same cemetery as Louisa, but he is the only Simon D. Jackson listed for that cemetery. The age of this Simon also matches mine and they were both listed as being born in Ohio.
I am hoping that someone may have come across some document either in researching the Chenoweth, Bowsher, or Jackson family that can confirm my theory that Simon had these two wives.Any help would be greatly appreciated!
