Re: Thomas James/Elizabeth Mace/Rachel Allen
Joan-Thanks for the info on Benjamin Allen. This Allen line sure has been a tough one.Yes, I do have a copy of the will.Mahala was the first grandchild so maybe that is why he gave her what he did.He did mention Anna's dau. that he gave $50.00 to.
There are so many John Allen's in the land records, it is hard to determine which belong to our John Sr. and Jr. There is one 1 March 1790 Iredell Co. that mention's Sharpe's line, so I am inclined to think that one is John Sr.
There may be others to be obtained if one were there in Lincoln and Iredell Co in person. We live in Blaine, WA-a long way from NC.Are you in NC?
Maybe with the DNA project, more Allen's will connect to your husband. That is worth keeping up with.
I don't know if anyone is doing DNA on Vincent line. Would be interesting to know if they connect to our line, but from what I have found, so far can't find a connection.
I found John C. Martin (who married John Allen Sr.'s dau. Phebe Allen) on the 1830 NC, Lincoln Co., census. On the same page just a few houses away was a Mary Allen with 1 male 20/30, 1 male 30/40, 2females under 5, 1 female 5/10yrs, 2 females 20.30yrs and 1 female 70/80yrs (so b. ca 1750-1760).I wonder if she could be John Sr's wife?
I don't know who the other girls married so can't find them on the census.Don't know what happened to Phebe either. Can't find them after 1830.
Do you have birth/death dates for Benjamin and wife?I would love to have the names/dates of their children.
