Re: Thomas James/Elizabeth Mace/Rachel Allen
I remember some years ago searching a John Allen, a Quaker.I think his wife's name was Amy, but not sure. It has been some years ago.I traced them back through the MM, and finally determined that they were not my line. But it has been so long ago.I think that I traced them from VA to PA, but I'll have to look through my old Allen folder and see if I can find the info.
I believe that Vincent Allen may be the brother of our John Allen. There were two Vincent Allen's in NC at the time. The one that I believe may be John's brother, was in Lincoln Co., NC at the same time as our John was b.11 May 1756 in Essex Co., VA and died 30 May 1834in Lincoln Co., NC. He married Elizabeth (some info states her last name was Haile; he named a son Vincent Haile/Hail/Hale).
Vincent Allen served in the Rev War from Culpeper Co., VA.
He received a pension in 1832 in Lincoln Co., NC and his widow received her widow's pension and named her ch.
Can you tell me why you think that Thomas James' father was William Thomas James? I would like to do a little digging on that avenue.
