“Mrs. Mary M. York, better known as “Aunt Mary,” died at the home of her son, J.J. York, in South Clayton, Wednesday morning.
Aunt Mary was in her 94th year and was the widow of the late J.B. York. She was a Miss Mary James before she married Mr. York, before the Civil War and a native of Persimmon.
The deceased was a member of the Baptist Church and had many friends who admired her for her beauty of character and lovely traits.
She leaves one son, J.J. York and several grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted from the Persimmon Baptist Church sometime Thursday.”
