BOB JANE of T (Tyre) Mart & Motor Racing, Australia
‘BOB JANE T MART’ Australian Racing driver, motor racing and motoring entrepreneur, owner of the Calder Park Raceway and Thunderdome, near Melbourne, was born about 1930 in Brunswick, Victoria of Cornish miner ancestors who came out to the Victorian Goldrush in 1863.
Robert Frederick (Bob) JANE is a Great Grandson of ELIAS JANE born 1837 Liskeard, Cornwall and died 1876 Maldon, Victoria, Austraia and his wife Kate TRUSCOTT who married on 10 March 1963 in St. Stephens (in Brannel) Cornwall and set sail on the ship ‘Caduceus' to arrive in Melbourne on 5 August 1863.
Elias Jane was the youngest son ofEdmund Jane and Ann Pitt of the Liskeard region of CORNWALL.
I am a descendant of Elias’s elder brother, Edmund (or Edward) JANE, whose son Edwin JANE, with his wife Henrietta nee JENKIN/s and two oldest children, sailed on the ship“Lady Milton” to arrive in Adelaide SA on 29 Nov 1865 following his Uncle Elias (who was only a few years older than him) to the Victorian goldfields near Clunes.
In Adelaide, Edwin Jane was met by his 2nd cousins Daniel & Richard Jane, and their families, who had been awaiting him by working in the copper mining areas of SA.
Whereas Richard and Edwin Jane families traveled overland to Victoria in the summer of 1865/66,Daniel Jane decided to stay with his family in South Australia. All of these JANEs had many more children in Australia. Many of these Jane families later went to the Goldfield of Western Australia in the 1890s etc.In fact Janesmet up in KALGOORLIE from at leach five branches of the family. Some died there, including my G-great uncle. Many of them returned to the east after a decade of so.
I have a large database of all these families. If readers want to add to my family tree I would be pleased to share knowledge.
