Janota in Cook Co. Illinois
Well, after a good deal of research on my own, I found this family. BUT.. they were not related to the Samuel Axtelle of Chester, Vt. Instead, to Alexander Axtell of Grafton, Vermont. I will submit my findings below for those who might be (some day) researching this family.LINDA.
[Inquires, 18 Feb. 1910, Stella S. Jarmota, 170 N. Ridgeland Ave. Oak Park, Ill., a relative, asked the pension bureau of information on Samuel Axtelle of Chester, Vermont, saying that she was a relative] But I went through to check her out... (took almost 4 hrs. research on line, but found her), and she was not related to Samuel & Celia Axtelle of Chester.She was related to Alexander & Abigail (Goodrich) Axtelle of Grafton, Vermont instead.
William Robinson Skiff, b. Hostwick, NY, 22 Dec., 1809, son of Edmund & Betsey (Robinson) Skiff. He m. in Wyoming, NY, 25 Dec., 1832, Abigail Whitcomb Axtelle (b. Grafton, Vt., 8 Dec., 1812, dau. of Alexander & Abigail (Goodrich) Axtell). Abigial d. in Newton (Jasper Co.) Iowa, 30 Dec., 1886. Her husband William d. in Newton, 26 May, 1881.
Vernon William Skiff, b. Hume (Allegany Co.) NY, 23 Jan., 1841, son of William Robinson and Abigail Whitcomb Axtell Skiff. He m. in Chillicothe, Missouri, 23 Jan., 1867, Mary Frances Coffin (b. Salem, Indiana, 25 Oct., 1842, dau. of Matthew Starbuck & Martha Ellen (Thompson) Coffin). Mary Frances d. in Oak Park, Illinois, 14 Dec., 1918. Vernon d. in Oak Park, 29 April, 1926. They had children: (1) Frank Vernon, b. Chillicothe, 1867. He d. in New York City, 3 June, 1933; (2) Stella, b. Iowa, Oct., 1867; (3) Blanche, b. Iowa, 1870;

North Carolina, mother born Indiana; Stella (b. Iowa, age 12), Frank (b. Iowa age 20); Blanche (b. Iowa age 7), Matthew Coffin (b. North Carolina, 1811, age 69, widower, retired merchant, boarding); William Stiff (b. New York, age 70, retired merchant, both parents born Conn)Abbie (b. Vt. 1813,age 67, wife, both parents born Vermont.).

Iowa, Oct., 1867, age 32, m. 7 yrs., 1893; 3 children, wife, father b. NY, mother Conn.); Vernon (b. Ill. Dec., 1895, son); Francis (b. Ill, Nov., 1897, son); Joseph (b. Ill, Oct., 1899, son); Nellie Armstrong (b. Ill., June 1865, age 34, m. 10 yrs., 0 children, servant); Lizzie O'Brien (b. England, Nov., 1864, age 34, single, servant).—1910 census of Oak Park (Cook Co.) Ill. Alfredo Jarmota (b. Italy, 1844, age 66, both parents born Italy, immigrated in 1866, teacher of vocal music). He m. 1892, Stella Jarmota (b. Iowa, 1868, father b. NY, mother Indiana, wife); Vernon Jarmota (b. Ill., 1895, age 15, son); Francis Jarmota (b. Illinois, 1897, age 13, son); Joe Jarnotta, b. Ill., 1899, age 11, son).
Stella Janotta died in Cook County Illinois, 16 Feb., 1984 (File Number 10981, get record from Cook County Clerk).
