My ggggrandmother, Dena Janssen Heiken was born in Rysum, Germany which is in the Ostfriesland section of Germany.She was born in 1808 and married my ggggrandfather, Jacob Reisack and they lived in Loquard, Germany which is near Rysum.Their daughter, Dena Reisack married Tiede Mennenga.I have books from Loquard and Wybelsum (which is where the Mennengas are from) in Ostrfriesland.They list the people who were born there, their dates of birth, marriage and death as well as who they married and their children.They are written in German but you don't have to know German to be able to figure out what is listed.I ordered the books through OGSA (Ostfriesen Genealogical Society of America).Their website is www.ogsa.us/ .They have the book from Rysum as well but I have not ordered it yet.I know the names can be confusing because the parents don't always have the same last name as the children, but these books are really helpful in figuring it out.

I also looked on www.ancestry.com and there is a family tree out there that lists Hiemke Maria Heiken (born 1787) and married to Hinrich Janssen.The family tree is Boes-Arntholz-Wegmeyer-Thaden.You have to be a member in order to actually go in and see the info on the trees, but you can look at some info out on that sight without being a member.
