Sorry I had some things to get done earlier.

Back again to Graham & Jarrett.

Most people in various sources for the Graham family in N.C. believe that there was yet another son called Fergus Graham. so I set out to find him. I also asked myself what was a David Jarrett doing in Rowan Co. N.C. in the first place. (family connection Maybe?)

Everyone claims that are Jarrett/Garrett/ Garrard were in Pennsylvania before coming to Va./W.Va. -- Indeed they are there are lot's of them. In lots of counties. Graham family also came thru. Pennsylvania before coming to Va./W.Va. & N.C.

So lets get to Fergus Graham 1st. This is where I found him. Chester Co. Pa. Early Church Records Vol.1 Quaker records of the Bradford Monthly Meeting,
Record dated Nov. 15, 1740 - Ann Wilkinson nowthe wife of Forguson Graham from Ireland. She was disowned for mar. by a priest.

Note most people claim James Graham(Monroe& Greenbrier) came from County Donegal Ireland from the scottish Grahams. Mountains of Highland Scots left Scotland and were in Ireland. That's how you get the phrase Scotch -Irish.

Interesting family also in Chester County Pa. (Jarrett/Garrett) -- Note their are several early Graham wills in Chester Co. Pa.

Arthur Graham Left a will in Chester Co. Written Feb. 13, 1765 Probated April 29, 1765 - wife Jean - sons James, Arthur, John, Michael, Jarrett, Daniel - daughters Mary, Helinor(Elinor, Sarah, Margaret, Jean - Note 2 of the witnesses for this will were his sons Jarrett Graham & Michael Graham.
(I find this big time interesting a Graham with a son named Jarrett.)

Chester County will of David Meredith Written Feb. 19, 1755 Probated dec. 12, 1755 wife Elinor - Sons Daniel, George, Elijah, Daughters Ann, Esther, Hannah, Sarah, Alice. executors of this will are his wife Elinor and his two brothers inlaw(Will States they are his brothers inlaw) Thomas & William Garrett

Chester Will of Ellis Williams Written May 14, 1754 - Probated Feb. 25, 1756 - Names Sons Robert, Ellis, Isaac - Grandson's George & Ellis Garratt. Daughter Mary Garratt wife of Thomas Garrett Granddaughter's Ruth & Esther Garrett & Mary Williams.

Garrett/Jarrett are in Chester co. as early as 1710. There eare mountains of birth records for children starting as early as 1710,& William Graham has records in Bucks co. as early as 1743..

Now lets find a Garrett/ Jarret in earlier Va. records.
In 1735 Jost Hite & James wood survey 100 acres for Joseph Garrat(Garratt) North of the Shenandoah River Present day Millville Va. and he also has records in Loudon Co. Va.

Then lets put a Jarrett & Hicks next to each other before the Hicks & Jarrett Marriages.

list of Militarty warrants with no survey in Fincastle Co. Early Adventures on the Western waters Vol. 1
Joseph Hicks 200 acres March 12, 1774
Richard Jarrett 200 acres Feb. 14, 1774
Richard Johnson 2000 acres Jan. 7, 1774

History books for Kanawha Co. state that the founder of the 1st Morriss family in Kanawha Co. came from Bedford Co.Va. as does the 1st Huddleston. The Morriss family are also married in into the Jarrrett's very early in W.Va. History

Every old tale that's ever came down has David Jarrett as married to either a Jane Graham or a widow Jane Griffith.
fact is William Hicks is married to Hannah Jarrett (Garrad). Several Hicks documentssay William Hicks & Hannah Jarrett.(Court cases tried in Kanawha co. say that William is the son inlaw of David Jarrett) Fact is David Jarrett def. has had a 1st wife. Joseph Stephen Hicks (Stephen) was the only son of William & Hannah to marry in Monroe co. His father William was already dead he needed a bondsman namely Samuel Graham who was the 1st husband of Sarah Jarrett(Sister to Hannah) 2nd was a Blain/Bain). Samuel Graham was dead in 1829 (Inventory Monroe Co. ) And Sarah remarries.

My belief is that David Jarrett pos married a Jane Graham while in Rowan Co. N.C. and then joined his brothers who were in Greenbrier(And later Kanawha).

Question is several of the N.C. Grahams have dau. named Jane. Then Lawrence Co. Ky records say. that the David Born 1771 was the son of a David & Jane Jarrett of Va..

I'll be back with yet more info.
Mary
