Took wings and flew home to the Lord & vack into her husbandes (preceded) waiting arms July 11th,2010 from home surrounded by her adoring family. Eldest of 3 sisters, Hazel Amos (Michigan), Barbara Sowell (North Carolina/proceded.). Family moved to Pennsylvania when her father died at age 10. Through devoted Christianity all daughters attended and graduated from college. At virginia State College University (she pledged AKA Sorority), Ruth met All-American Basketball player Clarence E. Jerreries. They graduated in 1948 and were wed in a lavish ceremony in the Pittsburgh area where he was from. Early1950'sthey moved to California where he was one of 1st African Americans on Oakland Police Department. Three children; ClarenceJr/Clay (Tammy) Sacramento, Cprwin/Cory(Lisa) Oakland, and Mona (Anthony) of Elk Grove. 3 grandchildren (Mario, Cory & alexzandrea),3 step-grandchildren (Mark Anthony, Anthony & Antwone), 7 step-grandchildren, Degrees and credentials; B.S. Virginia State, Home Economics, Master's LaVern College, Education and School Management, Cal-Berkeley, Merit Service Award, San Jose State, Math, San Francisco State, Physical Science, Cal State Hayward, English and Elementary Education, Hobies; Traveling (collecting porcelin cups), reading and poetry. she is sorely missed.
