I gave up on my search for awhile but can't seem to give up. I am trying to figure out what Hill line George Burrell Hill who married Martha Stovall comes from. They can be found in the 1850 Davidson Co., TN Census along with the family of Lydia Jefferson Stovall widow of Caleb Stovall who died in 1849. Caleb Stovall was Martha Stovall Hill's father.
There is a marriage of Mary Criddle and William Moss on 24 Jan. 1792 in Cumberland Co., VA. Surety was Finch Criddle and the witnesses were Wm. Burton and Jesse W. Thomas. The Stovall family married into both the Burton family and the Thomas family.
There is also a marriage of Tabitha Moss to Bartholomew Stovall, Jr. 4 Sept. 1750 in Cumberland Co., VA. and another marriage between Landis Stovall and Anna Isbell 13 Feb. 1806 in Cumberland Co., VA.
Landis Stovall is the uncle of Martha Stovall Hill.
Norvell Hill Robinson (Robertson) married Elizabeth M. Criddle 25 Feb 1813. Surety was Daniel C. Talley. Martha Stovall Hill had a niece Elizabeth Stovall who married into the Talley family in Cheatham Co., TN. You can find her listed in the 1850 census in Davidson Co., TN with the George B. Hill family.
Then we have a marriage of Patsy Bradley and Robert Richardson 26 Sept. 1808 in Cumberland Co., VA. Jesse Criddle was the surety. Martha Stovall Hill also had a nephew William R. Stovall who married into the Bradley family and moved to MO.
All of these family names can be found in Nashville/Davidson Co. and Sumner Co., TN in the early 1800's including the Robertson and Hodge families in Davidson.
I have not done research on the Robertson and Hodge families but there is a book "West Nashville and Its Environs" or something similar to that title written by a Kelley that has info on these families. You should be able to google it.
Let me know if you find any connection between Norvell Hill Robertson and any of the above families.
