Chris was born, 4 Oct 1882, son of Thor and Annie (Nelson) Jensen, both natives of Denmark.Thor came to the US as a young man, was a farmer in MN & IA, and died before age 40 at Humboldt, IA.Annie later married a Mr. Suffler of Sanish, ND.Children of Thor and Annie Jensen: Carrie (Mrs. Fred Turner, Poplar, MT); Peter (who did not marry, died at Humboldt, IA); Chris (Poplar, MT); Eddie (died in young manhood at St. Paul).
Chris grew up and was educated in St. Paul, MN, and as a boy went to work in a local hotel.He left St. Paul at age 23, and went into business for himself in retail liquor at White Bear Lake, MN, until he located to Poplar, MT, in Feb 1910, and opened a restaurant and bakery business on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation.He founded and operated the Poplar Restaurant and Bakery.He built a movie house at Poplar, The Glacier Theater, which opened in 1914.He also operated a movie theater at Wolf Point, but sold it after three years.He became a director ofThe First National Bank of Poplar; president of the Roosevelt County Fair Association; member of the Poplar City Council and of the Commercial Club.
On 9 Apr 1904, St. Paul, MN, Chris married Miss Elda Quitmeyer, born in Minnesota, daughter of Otto Quitmeyer, a farmer at Parker's Prairie, MN. Jensen child:Otto, died at age 3 weeks.
