Hello Helene. I have a similar problem with my Jensen-Johnson family from Denmark to Minnesota. I have 75 photos of family from Denmark and the USA of who we have no idea as to who they were. Our Jensen came from Copenhagen also but in the 1880s. I started my search with the local newspaper archive in 1888 when my ancestor died. You can check the Danish archive(http://www.sa.dk/content/us/genealogy/basic_records/census_lists) to see if you can find census/birth information.
