Re: Jettons of Walker Co AL
Thanks for the info. Although I don't have much time these days for genealogy, I have researched the Jettons for about 30 yrs now.
Although I am interested in all Jettons, the Walker Co Al Jettons are not my line and I don't have much more on them than what I posted. I posted that info for a particular reason but mostly just so it's there for anyone interested in this line.
I do have info on the early Jettons who came from France in 1600s. You can find it on the Jetton surname archives at rootsweb or I can send it to you if you want. Basically the line starts with a Lewis Jetton in NY, then to DE, NC, and parts beyond. As best as most long time researchers can determine, all American Jettons descend from this Lewis who probably came from La Rochelle France in 1680s.
In regards to the children of Ephraim Jetton and Rachael Price, I now have them as:
1. James L. Jettonb. 1826 NC
2. Isabella Jettonb. 1828 FL
3. Joseph Syvester Jetton b. 1830 FL
m. Martha Ann Garrison
(my earlier post had Marhta's mother as Sarah ?Lollar?. Her name was Sarah Lawler.)
I have James as a s/o Ephraim and Rachael based on the 1850 census of Walker Co Al and your approximate date of their m. as 1825.
James's wife was Hannah and in 1850 they had a dau Rachel and a dau Nancy. Other children for James and Hannah on 1860 census were, Joseph, James, Isabella, and Martha.
The 1840 Walker Co Al census for Ephraim Jetton show:
2 boys 10-15 (James & Joseph?)
1 boy15-20 (Ezekiel Alexander?)
1 boy20-30 (William?)
1 girl 10-15 (Isabella?)
William Jetton was b. 1820 in FL. I have him as a s/o of Ephraim, but if so, Rachael Price would have been his 2nd wife.
